Opting for an ivory white painted range like Burford may seem like a safe option, but we believe this special range has an exceptionally flexible style and finish that can unleash the creative side in all of us.
Burford’s simple understated design should appeal to anyone with an experimental side, as this range gives you the licence to be eclectic with style and colour. We’re exploring the ‘anything goes’ approach you can apply to this classic range and also reflecting on some of our favourite Burford looks for inspiration.
Captivating Cacti & Terrariums
The Burford range is classic in its design, so teaming it with modern accessories or styling ideas can create a winning look. There are a broad range of captivating cacti and succulents on the market these days and we thought they’d make the perfect accompaniment to our beautiful Burford bookcase.
Grouping them in this angular terrarium gave them the perfect home and its unusual shape adds a nice contrast to the curves and cornice detailing of the Burford Bookcase design.
Deep Blues & Rich Yellows
Blues and yellows have always been a fitting companion for the Burford Range. Going for deep and rich colours with this range seems to enhance the classic nature of its design, elevating it to somewhere with a little more depth and substance. Going bold with colour is one of the beautiful benefits of this range. Its ivory white painted finish gives you the flexibility and stability to be a little more adventurous with your pallet.
If you’re a vintage hoarding, car boot junkie like us, the Burford range can provide you with the perfect platform for displaying your collections. Its neutral design allows you to be as eclectic as you like, gathering beautiful objects from a multitude of eras like a magpie for shiny pretty things!
We particularly love the mix of ornate antique frames, earthenware vases, stoneware pottery, the classic glass milk bottle and old vintage ladder adorning our Burford Chest. It shouldn’t work on paper, but with this range it really does.
Mixing in Modern Retro
We have a beautifully diverse mix of lighting styles on our Accessories page, but one of the new kids in town is our Tamra collection in cream and seen here in Yellow Ochre. We loved how well this modern retro lamp worked with the classic Burford wardrobe, a style combination that you might not expect.
The Tamra range comes in a free standing lamp style and a desk lamp version. Each option is finished around the rim with a copper ‘Sputnik-Esq’ circular trim. The vibrant colour and the smooth matt finish of the metal base and shade, add a splash of pop colour and retro chic to this classic range.
Teaming Classic With Classic
The Burford wardrobes probably capture the classic side of this range more than any other pieces. It’s on these that you can see the full extent of the panelling and cornice detailing and elegance of the Burford style. In this look, our Burford double wardrobe sits happily surrounded by regal antique wallpaper, majestic skirting boards and a dark wooden floor.
Our Burford Bookcase also works beautifully well surrounded by this intricate wall moulding and oversized skirting boards. Unsurprisingly classical architecture and ornate detailing like this work wonders with this range.
